Unclaimed Funds

For information on funds deposited with the State of New York Comptroller, visit the Office of Unclaimed Funds online at: http://www.osc.state.ny.us/ouf/

Each year, the Sullivan County Treasurer provides notice to potential owners of funds which the County of Sullivan has on deposit which have been unclaimed by the proper owner.  In addition, the Sullivan County Treasurer provides notice to those who have not cashed checks issued to them by the County of Sullivan.  The property types for these funds may include, but are not limited to, court and trust proceeds, bail, inmate funds, coroner’s funds, wages and miscellaneous refunds.

The dormancy period (or “stale date”) for these funds depends on the type of property.  Dormancy periods are defined by the New York State Abandoned Property Law.

The notice is given pursuant to §601 of the New York State Abandoned Property Law.  The notice provides potential owners with time to claim these funds prior to the same being forwarded to the New York State Comptroller.

For further information or to file a claim, please contact the Sullivan County Treasurer’s Office, 100 North Street, Monticello, NY 12701, (845) 807-0200.
