Bring the Family to Hear This Family Fiddle!

The Kurpil Family Fiddlers include, from the left, Christina Jones, Sam Kurpil and Cindy Gieger

Hurleyville, NY –The Kurpil Family Fiddlers are bringing their history and old-time fiddlin’ to the Sullivan County Museum in Hurleyville on Sunday, December 2 at 2 p.m.

The Kurpils are natives of Sullivan County and operate a farm in Jeffersonville. Sam Kurpil is in his 90s and still plays guitar with the band. He learned to play from his father; then he taught his daughters, Cindy Gieger and Christina Jones, who both play fiddle and harmonize together.

The Sullivan County band Little Sparrow will host the event and will join the Kurpils for several special holiday songs at the end of the performance.

The free concert is part of the Sullivan County Historical Society’s Annual Holiday Open House and Theme Tree Exhibit, which runs from 1-4 p.m. (The themed trees will remain on display for the rest of the month.) Refreshments will be served, and guests are also invited to bring holiday cookies or a snack to share. The Museum is located at 265 Main Street, Hurleyville.

This program is made possible with funding from a Sullivan County Arts and Heritage Grant, funded by the Sullivan County Legislature and administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
