Recycle Your Rechargeable Batteries and Old Cell Phones

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s Department of Solid Waste & Recycling has enrolled in a product stewardship program to collect and recycle spent rechargeable batteries and old cell phones at all County-operated transfer Stations free of charge and at no expense to the taxpayer.

Previously, these items were accepted for free, but the County was charged to recycle them.

“We continually monitor our recycling and solid waste programs to find ways to save money, expand offerings, and improve the customer experience, all while keeping well aligned with our environmental and sustainability goals.” said District 7 Legislator and Public Works Committee Chairman Joe Perrello.
