Bridge Replacement Will Require Brief Closure of Roads in Pond Eddy

Pond Eddy, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of County Route 41 (High Road) near its intersection with NYS Route 97 in the Town of Lumberland on Monday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 14, weather-permitting.

The closure comes at the request of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in order to facilitate the ongoing replacement of the Pond Eddy Bridge spanning the Delaware River and its approaches.

Detour signs and message boards are in place, posted by the bridge contractor (DA Collins) and the County, which will route High Road traffic along the parallel Hollow Road (a Town highway) and County Route 32 (Proctor Road) between Pond Eddy and Glen Spey. Traffic travelling Route 97 will be unaffected.

An additional closure of Hollow Road is anticipated to begin on August 15, at which time the detour will then utilize High Road and Proctor Road. Both closures are expected to last two days only, weather-permitting.
