Chairman Named to Statewide Public Safety Committee

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez has been appointed to the New York State Association of Counties’ (NYSAC’s) Standing Committee on Public Safety.

“NYSAC’s standing committees play an important role in helping us shape our policies and positions on legislative issues,” NYSAC President MaryEllen Odell wrote to Alvarez in a letter confirming his appointment. “Your experience and knowledge will add to the quality of our deliberations, and I hope you are able to serve.”

“I am honored to be selected for this important committee, which advocates for numerous public safety issues on behalf of counties at the State and federal levels,” Alvarez remarked. “I hope to be able to share what I’ve learned from more than three decades as a local Sheriff’s deputy, in addition to my service as a legislator and longtime community advocate.”

NYSAC represents, educates and advocates for New York’s 62 counties and their taxpayers before Federal, State and Local officials on matters germane to County governments. For more information, visit www.nysac.org.
