GO SOLAR! This Wednesday In Bethel

(Monticello, NY) - Learn just how easy it is to save money on your home, business or nonprofit’s electric bill – utilizing clean energy – through Catskill Mountainkeeper’s Solarize Sullivan program!

Sullivan County Manager Josh Potosek warmly invites you to enjoy free appetizers and tastings of Catskill Distilling Company’s and Catskill Brewery’s award-winning spirits and beer while learning the cost-effective ways to harness endlessly renewable solar energy for your family or company. Three expert installers – Solar Liberty, ETM Solar Works and Solar by CIR – will explain the details of assessing, installing and operating ground- and roof-mounted arrays, along with the low-interest, cash-positive financing that will save you money on day one.

The free event will be held at the Catskill Distilling Company at Dancing Cat Saloon along Route 17B in Bethel on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 6 p.m.

“Sullivan County enthusiastically and fully supports this initiative, as it dovetails with our commitment to promoting a clean and healthy environment,” said Potosek. “Programs like Solarize Sullivan represent an incredible opportunity to lower costs, improve operations, save money and take advantage of all the environmental benefits associated with clean energy.”

This is the second round of Catskill Mountainkeeper's Solarize Sullivan program, a countywide campaign to make it easier and more affordable for homeowners and businesses to go solar, grow Sullivan County’s green workforce and help New York State make the transition to renewable energy. The Solarize Sullivan program is a local effort that is bringing together groups of potential solar customers through widespread outreach and education.

Commercial and not-for-profit property owners are strongly encouraged to attend this event, which promises to lower their energy costs while promoting greener, cleaner, renewable sources.

Historically, Solarize campaigns lower the cost of solar 10-20 percent. In 2016, Solarize Sullivan participants installed 297.69 kilowatts’ worth of solar capacity throughout Sullivan County. For 2017, each installer has guaranteed a 10% or greater discount off their market rate, so long as residents and businesses sign up for installations by September 31, 2017.

“Solarize Sullivan’s competitive vetting process puts solar within reach for Sullivan County residents, businesses, and non-profits, guaranteeing the best price for the best materials,” said Program Coordinator Hailley Delisle. “New to the campaign this year is a commercial solar offering. With the help of Energize NY’s CPACE financing, it’s never been easier or more affordable for businesses and nonprofits to reduce their energy costs and go solar!”

“Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels doesn’t have to mean spending more money, and this program is a perfect example of how Sullivan County is playing a significant role in the statewide push for renewable energy,” added District 4 County Legislator Catherine Owens, chair of the Legislature’s Ag and Sustainability Policy Committee. “Our residents, businesspeople and leaders have the opportunity to truly make a change for the better, and I encourage everyone to learn more this Wednesday in Bethel!”
