Montour Falls, NY – A hundred firefighters representing departments from Bloomingburg, Callicoon, Grahamsville, Highland Lake, Hortonville, Jeffersonville, Kauneonga Lake, Lava, Liberty, Lumberland, Narrowsburg, Rock Hill, Roscoe, Summitville, White Lake, White Sulphur Springs, Woodridge, Wurtsboro and Yulan, plus members of the Upper Delaware Ambulance Corps, trekked to the State Fire Academy in Montour Falls for the 25th anniversary “Sullivan County Weekend” October 26-27.

Courses included “Fire-Based EMS Leadership,” “So You Are Chief: Now What?” “Truck Company Operations: It’s Not Just Breaking Things,” “Where Did All the Rules Come From? Management & Admin of a Fire Department,” “Firefighter 1 Refresher & Live Fire” and “Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler.” These courses are not offered at the County Training Facility and are taught by some of the most highly qualified instructors the State has to offer.

As always, a prime rib banquet was held on Saturday night, where the instructors sat and ate with the students and continued networking on any and all firematic topics.

As one chief said, “I got to know my guys better on the ride up and interacted with my neighbors for a weekend – what a great weekend!”

“If you missed out this year, fear not,” said Sullivan County Fire Coordinator John Hauschild. “We are already planning for next year!”
