Hurleyville, NY – Bluegrass guitarist Roy Streever was born in the old Callicoon Hospital and grew up in western Sullivan County listening to the folk music of the sixties. He has been performing for many years and is currently a member of the Hudson Valley bluegrass band Oxford Depot.

Oxford Depot plays old-time traditional music on traditional bluegrass instruments and, in addition to Streever, features Leon Swyka on bass, Ed Ackerly on banjo, Carl Kubie on fiddle, and Kevin Monahan on mandolin.

As part of the Sullivan County Historical Society’s “First Sunday Music and History” concerts, Oxford Depot will give a performance and talk at the Sullivan County Museum, 265 Main Street, Hurleyville on Sunday, January 6 (snow date January 13). Doors open at 1:30 p.m., and the music starts at 2.

Little Sparrow will host the free concert (donations are welcome!).

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
