State of the County Hits the Road

Monticello, NY – While dozens attended the January 24 State of the County Address and hundreds more watched online, not everyone had a chance to hear Sullivan County government’s achievements and goals for 2018, 2019 and beyond.

“So I’m hitting the road to bring the Address to them,” Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez explained. “I started yesterday with the Town of Cochecton Board meeting, and I plan to visit every town board in the County.”

The speech will not be the hourlong Address, however, as Alvarez will typically speak during a regular town board meeting. Instead, he’ll focus on a few highlights to bring listeners up to speed on the recent past, exciting present and bright future of Sullivan County.

“I’m always urging people, ‘Let’s Walk Together,’” he remarked. “But I’ve got to be there to walk with them, and this is one way of reaching out directly to the citizens this Legislature serves.”

Alvarez will often be joined at the following meetings by legislators representing the districts which serve those towns:

  • Tuesday, February 19, 6 p.m., Mamakating Town Hall, Wurtsboro
  • Thursday, February 21, 7 p.m., Rockland Town Hall, Livingston Manor
  • Tuesday, March 5, 7 p.m., Thompson Town Hall, Monticello
  • Thursday, March 7, 7 p.m., Forestburgh Town Hall, Forestburgh
