UPDATE: Hours Extended on Two Warming Centers

UPDATE: Monticello, NY – In cooperation with partner agencies and municipalities, Sullivan County will open two warming centers tomorrow, Wednesday, December 27, at noon and keep them open through at least noon on Wednesday, January 3.

The warming centers will be located in Monticello at the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center at 5 Jefferson Street and in Liberty at the United Methodist Church at 170 North Main Street.

“Due to the bitterly cold temperatures already blanketing the region, these centers will remain open to the public day and night during that period, which may be extended depending upon the weather,” said County Manager Josh Potosek. “We want all our residents and their families to stay safe and warm as winter deepens its grip on Sullivan County.”

As a reminder, the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) – which can provide funds for fuel and heating system repair/replacement – is ongoing, and aid for emergency heating situations will be available starting January 2 (per state rules). For more information, call 845-807-0142.
