Monticello, NY – In the wake of today’s news that Amazon has abandoned its effort to site a portion of its headquarters in New York City, Sullivan County Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez issued the following statement:
“If New York City doesn’t want Amazon, we welcome them. The end of Amazon’s plans for the New York metro region doesn’t have to mean the end of its plans in New York State. Sullivan County has got the land, a major highway, and a lower cost of operations that could give Amazon a unique competitive advantage. It’s not outlandish thinking – it’s out-of-the-box thinking, something for which Amazon is well known.”
