One More Sullivan Saturday Beckons!

En Plein Air Event

Summitville, NY – In these last warm days as the leaves begin to color and fall, the dynamic duo of Sullivan County’s new poet laureate Sharon Kennedy-Nolle and former poet laureate Eric Baylin will team up once again to re-animate the once-vibrant lore of nineteenth-century life.

Step back in time with Sharon and Eric on October 1 to learn about fascinating Sullivan County history while creating poetry and art inspired by this picturesque setting of the former Delaware & Hudson Canal’s towpath, canal bed, and stone bridges.

All materials are provided for this en plein air, and no experience is necessary. Bring a pencil, water bottle, bug spray, and comfortable shoes, and a willingness to explore and connect with the natural landscape.

Sharon Kennedy-Nolle, a professor of English and creative writing, is a published poet. Her latest book, “Black Wick: Selected Elegies,” was chosen as Editor’s Pick by Variant Literature Press, who published the book in 2021. Eric Baylin, both poet and sculptor, taught visual art for many years. He has exhibited his sculpture at the DVAA in Narrowsburg and CAS in Livingston Manor.

Participants must be age 13 and up. As space is limited, pre-registration is strongly recommended. To register or for more information, contact sullivancountypoetlaureate@gmail.com.

This program is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature and administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and SUPLA.
