Monticello, NY – Legislature Chairman Robert Doherty announces that Legislature Vice Chair Mike Brooks, County Manager Josh Potosek and Public Health Director Nancy McGraw, along with local businessman and tourism industry leader Sims Foster, will answer citizens’ questions during a Facebook Live Q&A session Monday, April 13, at 1 p.m.

Another Live Q&A will be held on Thursday, April 16, at 1 p.m., with guest presenters to be announced closer to the date.

“Thousands of people watch these Town Halls every time we broadcast them,” Doherty stated. “While we will continue to answer citizens’ questions, we also want to provide insights into how COVID-19 has impacted our businesses. I encourage people to ask questions about the economy, local businesses, tourism and our recovery plans at this next Town Hall.”

For the April 13 Town Hall, questions can be submitted via either email at sctownhall@sullivanny.us or private message to www.facebook.com/sullivancountygov by 7 a.m. April 13. They should be related to COVID-19 (2019 Novel Coronavirus) concerns and issues, phrased respectfully and apolitically.

The live Q&A will begin at 1 p.m. April 13 at www.facebook.com/sullivancountygov. The video will also be made available to view afterwards on the Coronavirus info page on the County’s website, www.sullivanny.us.

Legislature Meeting on April 16

The Sullivan County Legislature will hold an Executive Committee meeting, followed by its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, April 16. Since the Government Center is closed to the public, the meetings will be broadcast via live-stream, accessible at http://sullivancountyny.iqm2.com/Citizens/Default.aspx.

The Executive Committee meeting is expected to begin at or shortly after 9 a.m., while the full board meeting will occur at or shortly after 10 a.m. Those seeking to offer public comment are welcome to do so via email to Clerk of the Legislature Annmarie Martin at annmarie.martin@sullivanny.us.

Community Services Altering Access

The Sullivan County Department of Community Services will be working with a reduced staffing pattern due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will be providing some on-site services by appointment only for assessments and medication administration,” said Director of Community Services Melissa Stickle. “Our hours of operation beginning April 13 will be Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for on-site services.”

“We will be conducting individual therapy sessions via phone and all groups through a teleconference process,” she added. “We will be calling in medications for persons as needed.”

These changes are intended to reduce the number of persons coming on-site to aid in social distancing. However, the Department is committed to serving all who are in need and welcomes calls at 845-292-8770.

Job Fair Postponed

The Sullivan County Job Fair scheduled for May 5 has been postponed. A new date will be announced later in the year.
