Solid Waste & Recycling

The Department of Solid Waste & Recycling manages Sullivan County's solid waste disposal program, including the County transfer station and materials recovery facility in Monticello, along with five recycling/convenience stations throughout the County.  Sullivan County does not pick up garbage from residents or businesses; commercial haulers can be found in your local telephone directory.

Sullivan County Beautification Programs

The Division of Solid Waste supports Sullivan County Beautification Programs by providing roadside trash disposal for civic efforts, including:

  • Adopt-A-Road (requires town notification to the county as a program prerequisite), and
  • LitterPluck, an annual event sponsored by  Sullivan County, the Department of Solid Waste & Recycling, and community groups.
