Mercury Thermostats Now Accepted Year-Round

Recycle Mercury Thermostats

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s Department of Solid Waste & Recycling is pleased to announce that mercury thermostats are now accepted year-round at all County-operated transfer stations.  Previously, these items were only accepted at Household Hazardous Waste collection days.

“We are constantly looking to improve our recycling capabilities in Sullivan County, and these improved offerings are well-aligned with our environmental and sustainability goals,” said District 7 Legislator and Public Works Committee Chairman Joe Perrello.  “We encourage property owners who are upgrading their thermostats to bring the old mercury-containing units to us for recycling.”
