Take the Test, Become a Notary

NYS Notary Seal

Monticello, NY – In conjunction with the NYS Division of Licensing Services, the Sullivan County Clerk’s Office is offering the Notary Public Test a week after the one-day training at SUNY Sullivan.

“We’re doing this for the convenience of our residents, businesses and employees, since such tests are not regularly offered locally,” explained Deputy County Clerk Russell Reeves. “And there is great demand currently for notary services.”

A notary public (or simply “notary”) certifies documents in a manner proscribed by law. No experience is necessary to take the test, but taking the relevant course is strongly recommended. That course will be offered on October 5, 2018 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at SUNY Sullivan in Loch Sheldrake. To find out more about the course, visit www.sunysullivan.edu or call 845-434-5750.

The hourlong Notary Public Test is scheduled for October 11, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at the Sullivan County Government Center in Monticello. Seating is limited, so reservations must be made by emailing Reeves at Russell.reeves@sullivanny.us.

Please note that there is a $15 exam fee due before the test is taken (check or money order, no cash accepted). Proper photo identification will need to be presented, as well.

The State offers a “Notary Public License Law” booklet as a study guide. For more information, visit www.dos.ny.gov/licensing/notary/notary.html.
