Loch Sheldrake, NY – At the behest of the Sullivan County Legislature and County Manager Joshua Potosek, the NYS Public Service Commission (PSC) has scheduled an October 4 public hearing at SUNY Sullivan regarding a proposed underground electric transmission line.
Called “Clean Path,” the project – if approved by the PSC – would consist of a 178-mile-long, 1,300-megawatt high-voltage direct-current electricity conduit and associated facilities. The line itself would run underground from Delaware County to Queens, following the existing aboveground Marcy South transmission line through Sullivan County.
“Members of the public asked us to request a public hearing be held here in Sullivan County, not just the originally scheduled locations in Delhi, Middletown and Croton-on-Hudson,” explained Potosek. “I’m gratified the PSC listened to our request and promptly moved to schedule an informational session at the College.”
Information about the project & process will be presented and questions answered at 1 p.m. on October 4 in the Grossinger Dining Room (Building H, across the lawn from the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse) at SUNY Sullivan, 112 College Road, Loch Sheldrake. At 1:30 p.m., an Administrative Law Judge will listen to any project-related statements the public would like to give.
The project application may be reviewed online at the Department of Public Service’s website, www.dps.ny.gov. To access documents, click on “File Search” (located under the heading “Commission Files”), and enter “22-T-0558” in the “Search by Case Number” field.
For those who cannot attend or prefer not to speak at the hearing, there are several other ways to provide comments to the Commission. All comments should refer to “Case 22-T-0558” and are requested by October 20, 2023. Every submission will become part of the record considered by the PSC.
