COVID-19 Park Update

While Sullivan County park grounds and trails are currently open, some park facilities and restrooms remain closed. If you do plan on visiting, visit parks close to home, avoid crowded areas, and wear face coverings where you cannot maintain safe social distance.  

Highlights:  (Please visit the individual park web pages for further information.)

Lake Superior State Park: (Operated by the County of Sullivan pursuant to a Cooperative Agreement  with the  Palisades Interstate Park Commission.)

-  The beach is closed.  Swimming is prohibited.  The beach area will open for swimming June 19, 2021.

-  Season passes will be available to purchase at Lake Superior during operating hours.

-  Park grounds are open for passive recreation. 

-  Public boat launch is open.  Electric motors only.

-  Paddle Boat and Row Boat Rentals will open on weekends starting Memorial Day weekend. 

-  Restrooms will open during operating hours.

-  Social distancing is required (stay 6' apart).  Please follow NYS COVID-19 Guidelines.

-  Groups 25 and over require a permit.

Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History:  Currently Closed

Group Picnic Permits:  The Park and Recreation Office is currently accepting applications for Lake Superior State Park.

County Group Picnic Permit

Sullivan County through its Parks and Recreation Department extends an invitation to its residents and visitors to rent picnic pavilions located at three (3) of its County Parks. Pavilions are available on a first come - first serve basis. Groups consisting of 25 to 200 people may reserve a covered picnic pavilion at Lake Superior State Park (2 pavilions available), Minisink Battleground Park and Livingston Manor Covered Bridge Park. Each group picnic pavilion is furnished with 10 to 12 picnic tables and a group cooking grill. Permanent or temporary restroom facilities are located near all pavilions. A group picnic permit is also required for all groups consisting of 25 people or more who plan on using a county park.

To reserve a pavilion or set up for a group usage at any county park call (845) 807-0287 to confirm your desired date and request a group picnic permit application form.
