Welcome to the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire website. We have prepared this site to be a source of information about who we are and how we operate. The Bureau of Fire staff is ready to support the emergency service agencies of Sullivan County and to ensure that we work together for the common goal of providing the best response to the people of Sullivan County. 


Mission Statement

The Sullivan County Bureau of Fire is committed to facilitating a professional level of support to the Fire Service of Sullivan County by providing, training instruction & safety guidelines for firefighters and operational & technical assistance to fire officers. The Bureau's intent is to ensure that while firefighters engage in the protection of lives and property, the highest-level of service can be provided to the residents and visitors of Sullivan County during any and all emergency incidents.

Responsibilities of the Fire Coordinator

The Fire Coordinator's responsibilities include administering the State Fire Training Program and all training programs developed by the State or by his office and providing that training at the Sullivan County Emergency Services Training Facility. The administration of the County Fire Mutual Aid Plan and the efficient operation of the plan at all fire or any other emergencies. The Fire Coordinator is also directly responsible for supervising the administration of the Sullivan County Fire Radio System under authorization of the Federal Communications Commission and acts as liaison officer between the fire service of Sullivan County and the 

New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control which is part of the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services Office of Fire Prevention & Control.

Falling under the direct authority of the Fire Coordinator are the Fire Battalion Deputy Fire Coordinators, The Sullivan County Emergency Services Training Facility, The Sullivan County Fire Investigation Team, The Sullivan County Weapons of Mass Destruction/ Haz-Mat Team and The Sullivan County Special Operations Teams. In the event of a large scale emergency anywhere in the State, the Fire Coordinator is also required to respond to an activation of the New York State Fire Mobilization and Mutual Aid Plan by acting as Regional Fire Administrator with the responsibility of tracking personnel and equipment from the fire service of Sullivan County and deploying said resources to any affected area in the State.
