New!  Information for June 2021 Primary Election

Attention Voters: 

  • Sample Ballots are available to download (at left) for those Towns/Election Districts and Parties holding Primary Elections.
  • Please check that you are enrolled in the Party that is holding a Primary Election in the Town and in the Election District in which you are registered. You can check your registration at the following link: https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/
  • Voter registration deadline for the Primary Election is May 28, 2021.

“The State Board of Elections reminds all state residents that the deadline to register to vote for the June 22, 2021, Primary election is Friday, May 28, 2021.  Mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked by midnight, May 28th and received by a board of elections no later than June 2, 2021 to be valid for the upcoming Primary.”

Announcement – Information about Independent Nominating Petitions

April 13, 2021: First date for signing Independent Nominating Petitions

May 18-25, 2021: Dates for filing Independent Nominating Petitions

May 28: A certificate of acceptance or declination of an independent nomination for an office to be filled at the time of a general election shall be filed not later than the 3rd day after the 23rd Tuesday preceding such election.

June 1: A certificate to fill a vacancy caused by a declination of an independent nomination for an office to be filled at the time of a general election shall be filed not later than the 6th day after the 23rd Tuesday preceding such election.

June 25: A candidate who files a certificate of acceptance for an office for which there have been filed certificated or petitions designating more than one candidate for the nomination of any party, may thereafter file a certificate of declination not later than the 3rd day after the primary election.

Please follow these protocols when filing Independent Nominating Petitions at the Sullivan County Board of Elections Office:

  • The Sullivan County Board of Elections Office will accept petition filings on a “first-come-first-served” basis between the hours of 9:00 am – 5:00 pm from May 18 through May 25, 2021.
  • Petition filers will be taken one at a time at the Board of Elections Office counter. This procedure will be strictly enforced.
  • The  waiting line for filing petitions will start at the door outside the BOE Office entrance on the North Street side of the Government Center in Monticello.
