Welfare Fraud Task Force Announces Arrests

Liberty, NY – The Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force has made the following arrests: 

  • May 28 – Jennifer A. Patterson, 30, of Liberty was arrested and charged with Welfare Fraud in the 3rd Degree a Class D Felony, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony. It is alleged that Patterson stole $3,248 in Temporary Assistance by failing to disclose to the Department of Social Services that she was receiving Unemployment Insurance Benefits while collecting Temporary Assistance.  It is further alleged that Patterson submitted an application for Temporary Assistance Benefits/SNAP knowing it contained false information.  Patterson was processed and released on an Appearance Ticket to return to the Town of Liberty Court at a later date. 

 

  • May 31 – Michael J. Bryant Jr., 38, of Parksville was arrested on a Bench Warrant for failing to appear in the Town of Liberty Court on May 27.  Bryant was originally arrested and charged with Welfare Fraud in the 4th Degree, a Class E Felony, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, in 2020.  Bryant was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail.
