(Monticello, NY) - Sullivan County Legislator and Chair of Agriculture & Sustainability Committee Catherine Owens is pleased to announce that Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History in Narrowsburg, NY will open to the public on Memorial Day weekend Saturday, May 27, 2017 and continue to operate on weekends through the end of June, when it will commence its daily operations through Labor Day.
The weekend hours of operation are Saturday & Sunday 10am - 5pm (last tour begins at 4pm). Admission fees are: Adults $7; Senior Citizens (62+) $5; children 5-14 $4; children under 5 years old are free; Family Pass $20 (admits 2 adults & up to 3 children). Daily operating hours starting in July are Friday through Monday 10am-5pm.
Fort Delaware of Colonial History depicts the lives and lifestyles of the hardy Connecticut Yankees, paying homage not just to their significant place in the history of Sullivan County, New York and the upper Delaware River Valley, but their role in America’s War for Independence, as well. Costumed interpreters demonstrate and discuss the lifestyle of the settlers, including the various skills necessary for survival at the time, some of which were learned from the native Lenape Indians. These include farming, blacksmithing, weaponry, candle making, spinning and weaving, music and merriment, and home keeping in rustic cabins.
